Sousveillance

Das Projekt versucht, den Blick auf das offensichtliche Gesicht der globalen Überwachung zu lenken: Mobilität. Transdisziplinär konzipiert, bringt Sousveillance die Arbeit der Komponistin Meriel Price und die theoretischen Ansätze des Wissenschaftlers Nicolas Nova mit dem Kollektiv SoundTrieb zusammen. Ziel ist es, eine Schweizer Edition von staring at the bin im öffentlichen Raum zu entwickeln, um letztlich das Videokunst-Ergebnis in einem Ausstellungsformat im Museum Tinguely zu präsentieren.

staring at the bin (2016) bewegt sich in einem breiten Spannungsfeld zwischen dem Kampf um Aufmerksamkeit im öffentlichen Raum durch autonome Aktionen und einer ästhetischen Perspektive durch die Gestaltung von Rhythmus und Choreografie. Kuratiert unter dem Konzept Sousveillance reflektiert das Projekt über die Überwachung und über den urbanen Rhythmus. Das Projekt erhält auch eine neue theoretische Dimension in Bezug auf unsere aktuellen globalen Umstände, da es sich mit einer der Massnahmen zur Eindämmung der Pandemie COVID-19 beschäftigt: der Einschränkung der Mobilität. Es reflektiert indirekt Themen wie soziale Distanz, hysterisches Verhalten, Handlungsspiegelung, u.a.

staring at the bin is where the public, music, and theatre directly meet, unannounced and unexpected. A collection of minuscule performances in public spaces, events so tiny they appear to be coincidences or strange chance occurrences. Musical and theatrical events are seamlessly fused to life in urban spaces, distilled to their essence; the rest, the beat, repetition, or variation. Day to day life is framed and focused as it provides the material for intimate interactions. Meeting eye to eye without an “art” context allows a new relationship, a direct response as all labels are removed, leaving space for ones own meaning. Disturbances in the rhythm of the day force a pause for thought, an opportunity to reinterpret everyday routines or urban life. Something for nothing and unexplained, the events are unexpected, heightening awareness, stimulating a more immediate connection to surrounding people, places, and occurrences.
